Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

Synopsis

After vanquishing their mighty opponent, Goku Son and his companions enjoy peaceful days on Earth. In the cosmos, Beerus, the God of Destruction, stirs from a long sleep, prompted by visions of a being called a Super Saiyan God. Together with his aide Whis, Beerus sets out to find this powerful fighter, seeking a worthy adversary. Learning that the Saiyan homeworld has been destroyed, Beerus focuses on the Saiyans remaining on Earth, targeting Goku in particular. Unaware of the Super Saiyan God legend, Goku and his friends summon Shen Long, the Eternal Dragon, only to discover that even Shen Long fears Beerus. After learning how to achieve the Super Saiyan God form, Goku engages Beerus in a fierce battle that threatens the planet.

Background

The story of Dragon Ball Z Movie 14: Kami to Kami was later adapted into the Battle of Gods Saga in Dragon Ball Super. Unlike most other Dragon Ball Z movies, this film is considered part of the anime's canon. It was also the first Dragon Ball film to be released theatrically in 17 years. There is a extended version of the film with 20 minutes of new material.
