Summary

Known as the Kame-sennin, Muten-Roushi is an ancient and wise martial arts master who holds the distinction of being the first Earthling to wield the Kamehameha. Although he appears frail, he is actually a mighty warrior. He has trained several notable figures, including Grandpa Son Gohan, the Ox King, Son Goku, Kuririn, and Yamcha. His residence, Kame House, is a shack located on a small, isolated island that serves as a gathering place for the Z Fighters and their friends. Muten-Roushi functions as a stock character, embodying both the archetypal wise old man and the dirty old man, with the latter trait being typical of shōnen anime. His occasional crankiness provides additional comic relief. Physically, he is bald and sports a thick goatee and mustache. He typically wears beach clothes or a martial arts suit, carries a turtle shell on his back, and usually wields a walking stick. His companions often include Oolong, Umigame, and Lunch.
