After vanquishing their mighty opponent, Goku Son and his companions enjoy peaceful days on Earth. In the cosmos, Beerus, the God of Destruction, stirs from a long sleep, prompted by visions of a being called a Super Saiyan God. Together with his aide Whis, Beerus sets out to find this powerful fighter, seeking a worthy adversary. Learning that the Saiyan homeworld has been destroyed, Beerus focuses on the Saiyans remaining on Earth, targeting Goku in particular. Unaware of the Super Saiyan God legend, Goku and his friends summon Shen Long, the Eternal Dragon, only to discover that even Shen Long fears Beerus. After learning how to achieve the Super Saiyan God form, Goku engages Beerus in a fierce battle that threatens the planet.

In this installment

After a time of peace, Earth faces a new danger as Sorbet and his underling Tagoma, remnants of Frieza's army, arrive aiming to bring their former leader back to life using Shenron. They pressure Emperor Pilaf, Shuu, and Mai into giving up the Dragon Balls they have. Once resurrected, Frieza, driven by the deep resentment he harbors for Son Goku and Future Trunks from his time in Hell, vows to destroy them. Sorbet points out that Future Trunks has been gone for a long while and notes that Goku's power has exceeded even Majin Buu's. Still, Frieza believes a few months of training will be enough to outmatch Goku. The uncertainty remains: will Frieza succeed in his revenge, or will Goku, Vegeta, and their companions step up to defend Earth from this new menace?
