Summary

Dr. Briefs, the father of Bulma, is an elderly, brilliant, and eccentric scientist regarded as one of the smartest men in the world. He founded Capsule Corporation and invented the Hoi-Poi Capsules, devices capable of shrinking inanimate objects into pocket-sized capsules of the same name. Despite his genius, he maintains an easy-going and friendly demeanor. Dr. Briefs rarely leaves his home, a trait highlighted in the Buu Saga when he and his wife refused to abandon their pets even after Capsule Corp. was specifically targeted for destruction, knowing they could always be wished back to life. He is often found tinkering with complicated gadgets while surrounded by his beloved animals, with his favorite being a small black cat known as Tama in the original anime and Scratch in the FUNimation dub.
