Vegeta

Summary

Vegeta is a prominent figure in Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball manga, standing alongside Goku, Gohan, and Piccolo as one of the series' central characters. Originally introduced as an antagonist, he evolves into a core hero. As the Prince of the Saiyans, he begins the story as a haughty, arrogant, and ruthless warrior, burdened by an inflated sense of superiority due to his royal lineage. He views himself as superior to almost everyone he meets, maintaining a regal and egotistical demeanor. Initially a cold-blooded killer within the Saiyan army, his character arc sees him transform into someone capable of genuine care and love for others. Following the near-extinction of his race, Vegeta served under Freeza alongside Nappa and Raditz. His primary goal was achieving immortality to rule the universe. After learning from Dodoria that Freeza had destroyed his home planet, Vegeta resolved to kill Freeza not to avenge his people, but to secure his own universal dominion and retaliate for Freeza’s manipulation. He fought Freeza on Namek alongside the main cast and perished in the battle. Upon being revived, he returned to Earth, eventually settling there permanently and adapting to civilian life. In the Dragon Ball and One Piece crossover special Cross Epoch, Vegeta appears as the captain of an airship, sporting an eye patch and a cape with a clasp displaying the Kanji for "vegetable." His crew includes Trunks, Usopp, and Nico Robin.
