Summary

Dende is a Namekian who ascends to the position of Earth’s god following the fusion of Kami and Piccolo. Initially appearing in the Namek Saga, he is rescued from Dodoria by Son Gohan and Kuririn. His elder unlocks his latent healing abilities, which he utilizes to assist the warriors during their battle against Freeza, though he is ultimately slain by the tyrant. After being revived by Shenlong, Dende resides on New Namek until Son Goku teleports there during the Cell Saga to request that a Namekian assume the role of the new God of Earth and restore the Dragon Balls. Dende accepts this duty and continues to serve in this capacity for the remainder of the series.
