Oolong

Summary

Oolong is a shapeshifting humanoid pig with pale pink skin, standing roughly three feet tall and typically wearing trousers, button-down shirts, and suspenders. He was expelled from his shapeshifting training after stealing his teacher’s underwear and possesses the ability to transform into anything, though he can only maintain a new form for five minutes at a time before needing a break. Initially appearing as a villain who terrorized a village and kidnapped young women, he was defeated by Son Goku, leading to the safe return of the girls. Bulma later persuaded Oolong to join her Dragonball quest, believing he might be useful, and he eventually became good friends with Goku and the others, helping them locate more Dragonballs. While he played a major role at the beginning of Dragon Ball, his appearances became sporadic by the end of Dragon Ball Z. His limited shapeshifting skills and innate cowardice rendered him a weak character who had little to contribute once the story shifted toward more serious action, though he frequently appeared in the anime and several movies as comic relief. He is loosely based on Zhu Bajie from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.
