The Twelve Kingdoms

Synopsis

In "The Twelve Kingdoms," Youko Nakajima dreams of living an ordinary life. She follows rules strictly, performs well in her studies, serves as class president, and often helps her classmates. Still, her unusual red hair makes her stand out. Her reserved nature frequently leads to others taking advantage of her, leaving her without genuine friends. On what seems like an ordinary day, a mysterious man enters Youko's classroom. He introduces himself as Keiki, a noble from another world, and declares Youko to be his sovereign—destined to rule over his kingdom. Their encounter is interrupted when monstrous creatures called youma pursue Keiki. During the ensuing turmoil, Keiki escapes with Youko, but also inadvertently brings along two other classmates, Ikuya Asano and Yuka Sugimoto. After being separated from Keiki following a youma attack, the three find themselves stranded in an unfamiliar world where they must learn to survive on their own or die.
