Enho
Summary
Enho is a wise man residing in Hokui, a city within the province of Ei led by Keiki. When Youko realizes her limited knowledge of her kingdom hinders her ability to rule wisely, Keiki secretly arranges for her to study under Enho, a plan known only to Youko, Keiki, and Enho himself. Upon Youko’s arrival, Enho’s rike faces an attack by youma. Youko intervenes to save Enho and the other residents, but the assault results in the deaths of everyone except Enho, a girl named Rangyoku, and her brother Keikei. Later, while Youko visits Takuhou and Meikaku, Shoukou’s men attack the rike again. This second assault kills Rangyoku, injures Keikei, and leads to Enho’s abduction by Shoukou, who takes him to Gahou. Youko resolves to rescue Enho and learns from Suzu that Shoukou is responsible. After capturing Shoukou, she discovers that Enho is being held by Gahou. Youko subsequently sends the royal army to attack Gahou, successfully rescuing Enho.
