Takki

Summary

After escaping her captors upon arriving in the Twelve Kingdoms, Youko Nakajima breaks into Takki’s home in Kou with intentions to steal. Takki, however, feels pity for the stranded girl and takes the time to explain various aspects of the world to her. Trusting Takki’s apparent kindness, Youko accepts an offer to work in Kasai, where Takki’s mother is employed. Upon arrival, Youko discovers the truth: Takki’s mother runs a brothel, and the real purpose of the arrangement was to sell Youko into slavery. Realizing the deception, Youko flees immediately. In the anime adaptation, Takki’s role remains largely consistent with the novels, making her first appearance in the third episode. The initial encounter differs slightly, as Youko attempts the burglary alongside her classmates Yuka Sugimoto and Ikuya Asano. Takki extends the same pity to all three, providing them with food, clothing, and shelter. She then offers the two girls jobs in town, though her underlying motive remains the same: to sell them as slaves.
