In Hetalia, the attention moves away from the strains between countries during wars and toward their surprising teamwork in calmer situations. Here, nations gather in a school newspaper club, look back on historical figures, and even set out on a search for Santa Claus. Through the frequent comedic chaos, the exploits of these countries stay unpredictable and amusing.

In the middle of the African Front, the United Kingdom and America are forced to set aside their long-running feud and work together to take on Italy and Germany. At the same time, France looks for payback against Germany after a suspicious loss at the border. In another place, the Nordic nations grow a tight connection because of their common characteristics, which annoys Finland. In a different plot, Sealand goes on a mission to find other micro-nations after becoming friends with Wy and Seborga.
