United Kingdom, widely known as England or Britain, is a nation personified as a rainy island with the reputation of being the "delinquent of Europe." Born on April 23, he stands 5'9" (175 cm) tall and appears to be 23 years old. While his official name is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with London as its capital, he is commonly called by his constituent parts. His national flower is the rose, and he speaks English. In his youth, he was a violent pirate, but he has since abandoned that lifestyle to pose as a self-proclaimed "gentleman." Despite this refined facade, he possesses a sharp tongue, a foul mouth, and a cynical, stubborn, and sarcastic personality. He is competitive and cold, yet surprisingly loyal once friendship is established, fitting the definition of a tsundere. He has a slender build, thick bushy eyebrows, and strong beliefs in the supernatural. He can perform black magic, see spirits, and converse with creatures like unicorns, fairies, ghosts, and even Captain Hook, though he stubbornly refuses to believe in aliens. His hobbies include embroidery, craftsmanship, drinking tea, literature, and rock or punk music. He also enjoys cooking, but it is a running gag that his food tastes terrible, a fact that explains why America, who grew up eating it, has such high tolerance for strange delicacies. When drunk, he becomes violent and bitter, often ranting about America. He shares a complicated history with France, with whom he has been on bad terms for centuries. Their animosity includes the burning of Jeanne d'Arc by England's army and teenage France bullying young England. Despite their petty squabbles and bickering, they share an underlying respect and close bond, often spending Christmas together. France is one of his closest friends, even if England denies it, and he once allowed France to "conquer" him during an apocalypse scenario. England raised America after a conflict with France and Finland. They were like brothers, but England forbade America from calling him that due to painful memories of his own siblings. America's declaration of independence ruined their relationship, causing England to feel ill and heartbroken every July 4th. In the present, they frequently clash, but they still care for each other deep down. His actual blood brothers are Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, who despise him enough to throw rocks, mail curses, and shoot arrows at him. His youngest brother, Sealand, also dislikes him, calling him "Jerk England," though England cares for him despite his annoyance. All of England's personified colonies, such as Hong Kong, Wy, and Australia, share his distinctive bushy eyebrows. Although he officially represents the entire United Kingdom, he is supposed to represent England specifically. In the anime's English dub, he is referred to as "Britain," a choice requested by the original Japanese producers.
