Known officially as the Kingdom of Sweden, this character is a former Viking nation once celebrated as the Lion of Northern Europe and the Conqueror of the Baltic Sea. While originally depicted with light brown hair and dark brown eyes in a brief anime cameo, his official debut in the Hetalia World Series features blonde hair and blue eyes. His human identity is Berwald Oxenstierna, and he stands 182 cm tall with an appearance of 21 years. Born on June 6, his national flower is the Linnea, and he resides in Stockholm. Sweden’s history includes a period under Danish rule, during which he and Finland fled to live together. Although Finland was later subdued by Russia, Sweden noted that living under Russian control felt freer than before but lacked the joy he experienced with Finland. He also holds partial custody of Latvia and Estonia, a result of his past with Finland, and adopted Sealand, whom he purchased from an online auction. Despite his intimidating appearance and silence, which some attribute to his cold origins, Sweden is actually serious, honest, playful, and kind. He speaks with a Tohoku dialect. His interests are diverse, including debating, woodworking, art, glass crafts, and producing large quantities of Surströmming, which is jokingly considered a lethal weapon. He is deeply dedicated to the welfare of his citizens. Finland affectionately refers to him as Su-san, while Iceland calls him Svi.
