Hailing from the Republic of Iceland, this character first appeared in the film *Ginmaku Hetalia Axis Powers: Paint it, White*. He presents as a sixteen or seventeen-year-old with short, whitish-grey hair and blue eyes, though his eyes were depicted as violet in later illustrations despite remaining blue in the anime. He shares a unique bond with Norway, whom he regards as "the home where his heart truly lies," a nod to the Norwegian origins of Iceland's first settlers. After a DNA test confirmed they are blood brothers, the other Nordic nations have relentlessly teased Iceland into calling Norway "Onii-chan," a task that causes him significant embarrassment. Despite his chilly demeanor, Iceland is described as having a hot interior, revealing a fiery and passionate personality beneath his calm exterior. This contradiction often marks him as one of Europe's most eccentric nations. He makes a conscious effort to speak English to avoid the discomfort associated with his difficult native tongue and heavy accent.
