Synopsis

Welcome to the gridiron of the damned! Massive, hulking bodies slam into one another while a tiny, nimble body darts between them toward the goal. No, this isn't a football game—it's Sena Kobayakawa racing down the halls of Deimon High School to escape the monstrous Ha-Ha brothers. But wait! Sena's incredible talent for not getting caught has been noticed by the devilish—and possibly genuinely demonic—captain of the school's embryonic American-style football team. When Sena asks to be the team's manager, he gets thrown onto the field as a running back instead! Yet there are two huge catches. First, to keep their new "star" player's identity an absolute secret, Yoichi makes Sena wear an opaque visor on his helmet and gives him the alias "Eyeshield 21." And the second catch? Well, to unleash his fastest "speed of light" running mode, Sena usually has to be absolutely terrified. Not that that will be a problem, given the monstrous players he'll soon be running from! The insanity hits the streets when feet meet cleats in Eyeshield 21!

Background

Eyeshield 21 was original scheduled to stream in North America on Toonami Jetstream and NFL Rush in collaboration with the National Football League, but the plan fell through and the anime made its debut only on Toonami Jetstream, which later dropped the series. It would then become available in its entirety on Crunchyroll. Sentai Filmworks later licensed and released the first 52 episodes on DVD from 2010 to 2011.
