Komusubi, Daikichi
Summary
Komusubi, whose given name Daikichi translates to "Good Fortune," serves as a linemen for the Deimon Devil Bats, wearing jersey number 55. Standing at 150 cm and weighing 64 kg, he compensates for his short stature and moderate speed with indomitable will and immense power. His father, who had recently received a promotion, named him Daikichi to celebrate the occasion. A graduate of Gouremu Middle School, he joined the Devil Bats after witnessing the Zokugaku exhibition match, where he was deeply impressed by Kurita’s physique and strength. This admiration led him to seek out Kurita as an "apprentice," a goal he achieved by surviving the Hell Tower qualifying test and defeating the Ha-Ha Brothers. Now a first-year student, Komusubi has adopted a rigorous lifestyle, bunking at Kurita’s house and waking up at 2 AM for training. He communicates almost exclusively in Powerful-go, a dialect of strange grunts and one-word sentences that only "true men" are supposedly capable of understanding. Despite the obscurity of his speech, he is comprehended by figures such as his father, Kurita, Deimon’s gym teacher Mizumachi, Gaou, and some Nasa Aliens members, with Mamori also appearing to understand him. He rarely speaks and avoids discussing his height, which he shares with his mother, though he inherited his father’s strength. He independently developed techniques to handle taller opponents, a skill that proved crucial during the match against Poseidon. Komusubi frequently clashes with the Ha-Ha Brothers, using their rivalry to motivate both himself and them to improve, a dynamic that Hiruma recognizes as beneficial for their growth. He has demonstrated extraordinary strength, once lifting around twenty high-school students simultaneously, and possesses a natural talent for sumo.
