Synopsis

The notorious Phantom Thief Kid has announced his intention to steal a treasured Japanese sword belonging to the Onoe family in Hakodate, Hokkaido. By chance, Conan and Heiji Hattori are already in Hakodate and are assigned to capture Kid. The Onoe collection includes items connected to the historical figure Toshizo Hijikata, who died in Hakodate. Why is Kid, who typically targets jewels, interested in this particular sword? At the same time, the Onoe family's attorney is found dead in the city's warehouse district, apparently killed by a Japanese sword. The primary suspect is an arms dealer and investor believed to be after the Onoe family's hidden treasure. The family patriarch's grandfather was deeply involved in wartime military production and is rumored to have concealed a powerful weapon in Hakodate—one capable of "changing the course of war." Could Kid be after this weapon? Amid these events, Heiji is also searching for the perfect moment to confess his feelings to Kazuha.
