Summary

Kaito Kuroba, also recognized as Phantom Thief Kid or Phantom Thief 1412, is a 17-year-old high school student standing 174 cm tall with blood type B. As the son of legendary magician Touichi Kuroba, Kaito’s life changed dramatically when the mysterious phantom thief Kid returned after an eight-year absence. Kaito discovered that his father, who had died eight years prior, was the original Kid. Upon confronting the current impersonator, who turned out to be his father’s former assistant Jii Kounosuke, Kaito learned that his father was actually murdered. Determined to uncover the truth, he assumed the Kid identity to conduct heists designed to lure his father’s killers. Kaito eventually encountered the murderers, discovering their goal was to locate the Pandora Gem, which promises immortality. He vowed to find the gem first and destroy it. In his civilian life, Kaito is a popular student known for teasing his girl classmates, particularly his childhood friend Aoko Nakamori, and suffers from an extreme fear of fish. However, as Kid, he maintains a calm and elegant demeanor, utilizing signature gadgets like a card gun and a hang glider cape. His most notable ability is his talent for disguising himself as anyone. True to his code, Kaito typically returns stolen items if they are not what he seeks. First appearing as the protagonist of Magic Kaito in 1987, Kaito gained widespread fame in 1997 through his role in Detective Conan, where he has since appeared periodically as both an antagonist and an ally.
