Summary

Known as the Great Detective of the West, Hattori Heiji is a high school sleuth from Osaka who traveled to Tokyo to challenge Shinichi. His sharp deductive abilities eventually led him to uncover the truth that Conan is the mastermind behind the Mouri Detective Agency and is actually Shinichi in disguise. Following this revelation, the two form a strong friendship and frequently collaborate on cases. Heiji often finds himself in awkward situations by accidentally addressing Conan as Kudou in front of Ran, but he consistently manages to diffuse the tension with his clever puns. Heiji speaks with a heavy Kansai accent that makes standard Japanese nearly impossible for him to use. Although he is the son of the Osaka district police commissioner, holding a top-tier position in the hierarchy, he relies on his own skills rather than his family status. His slightly tanned complexion is inherited from his grandfather. He shares a close bond with his childhood friend, Toyama Kazuha, who harbors unrequited romantic feelings for him. It is revealed in the seventh Detective Conan movie that Kazuha considers Heiji her first love, a fact that remains unknown to her.
