Kojima, Genta

Summary

When Shinichi Kudo transfers to Teitan Elementary under the alias Edogawa Conan, he quickly becomes part of Genta Kojima’s class. Genta, along with his friend Ayumi, initiates an investigation into a supposedly haunted mansion, convincing Conan to join them. When Mitsuhiko voices his doubts about supernatural phenomena, Genta insists he comes along too. The mystery ultimately reveals that the haunting was a ruse covering an old murder case. Later, a discovered treasure map leads the trio and Conan on a quest for stolen Italian gold coins. During this hunt, Conan rescues them from mafia members also seeking the treasure. Following this event, Mitsuhiko joins Genta and Ayumi to form the core of the Detective Boys. Although Genta immediately declares himself the leader, his lax approach means the group, including Genta himself, naturally looks to Conan as the true authority. Their school shoe locker serves as a drop box for case requests from other students. Genta has a massive appetite, particularly for unagi, often consuming more than the rest of the Detective Boys combined. He frequently evaluates financial matters in terms of how many bowls of unagi he could purchase. He sometimes confuses Japanese terms with similar-sounding words, especially those related to food, and struggles with basic Kanji, which occasionally draws mockery from peers. His impulsive nature and lack of situational awareness often create difficult situations for the group. Despite his loud and intimidating exterior, Genta is kind and reliable. He is close friends with Ayumi and Mitsuhiko and deeply admires his father, who embodies the traditional spirit of a Child of Edo.
