Suzuki, Sonoko

Summary

Suzuki Sonoko hails from the immensely affluent Suzuki family, the daughter of Tomoko and Shiro, who own a large corporation. Her extended family includes her sister, Ayako, and her uncle, Jirokichi, who is frequently entangled in attempts to apprehend the phantom thief Kaitou Kid. Sonoko shares a deep, lifelong bond with Mouri Ran, having been best friends since childhood. She is a steadfast supporter of Ran, often stepping in to assist her when she faces bullying from other students, sometimes providing more consistent help than Shinichi himself. While Ran is aware of Sonoko’s vast wealth, she strictly maintains their friendship as egalitarian, refusing expensive gifts or invitations such as ski trips even when Sonoko offers to pay, a mutual respect that has only solidified their connection. Prior to her relationship with Kyougoku Makoto, Sonoko exhibited the typical interests of a teenage girl, displaying an intense interest in boys and constantly seeking a "perfect" partner. Her desperation for a boyfriend led her to employ various tactics, such as wearing attractive clothing, making chocolates, or attending events popular with young men. This behavior often triggered jealousy in Sonoko, particularly when Ran unintentionally drew the attention of the male students. Although her demeanor shifted after she began dating Makoto, Sonoko occasionally still flirts with others, though her true affection remains firmly with Makoto. Additionally, Sonoko frequently teases Ran by jokingly referring to Shinichi as her future husband.
