Since fans favor the pairing of Touki and Tsurugi, Saya's role in the original work has been reduced, making Akane's performance difficult. The situation grows more complex due to discrepancies between the script and the source material, a problem that also troubles creator Abiko Samejima. However, Aqua's priorities go beyond the show; he seeks to draw nearer to director Toshirou Kindaichi to uncover what he knows about Aqua's mother, Ai.
