One year after the death of what was thought to be Britannia's most wicked emperor, the world enjoys an unprecedented era of peace under the United Federation of Nations. This fragile tranquility shatters when former Princess Nunnally vi Britannia and Black Knights chief advisor Suzaku Kuruguri are taken by armed forces, sparking an international crisis. Suspicion points to the treacherous Kingdom of Zilkhstan, prompting world powers to dispatch Kallen Stadtfeld and her team on a covert mission there. Inside the kingdom, they encounter C.C., the immortal witch, who is scheming to resurrect the revolutionary leader who altered history's course—a hero destined to return, take command, and shield the world from danger once more.

After the 99th emperor of the Holy Britannian Empire seemingly passed away, the empire disintegrated, allowing its former territories to regain their independence. Many joined the United Federation of Nations, an alliance dedicated to long-lasting peace, yet some remnants of the former empire still exist. Among them is Neo-Britannia, which took over Hokkaido Island in Japan following the assassination of Governor Juugo Sumeragi. The Seven Shining Stars, a resistance group based in Hokkaido, has reached an impasse in their struggle against Neo-Britannia. In a last-ditch effort, they turn to the Nameless Mercenaries: Rozé, known for his strategic genius, and Ash, an exceptional Knightmare pilot. Despite their Britannian origins, Rozé and Ash have gained fame for protecting the Japanese and eliminating imperial officials. With their support, the resistance hopes to reclaim their homeland and prevent another era of tyranny.
