Suzaku Kururugi serves as the deuteragonist and complex anti-hero of the Code Geass series, standing as the best friend and primary rival to Lelouch vi Britannia. Born on July 10, 2000 a.t.b., he is an Honorary Britannian of Japanese nationality who rose from a student to become a Military Officer, Knightmare Pilot, and Knight of the Round within the Holy Britannian Empire. Piloting iconic machines such as the Lancelot, Lancelot Conquista, Vincent Commander Model, Lancelot Albion, Lancelot Albion Zero, Mahoroba Type-01, and Lancelot siN, Suzaku operates under a strict moral code that rejects terrorism and rebellion, which he views as futile causes leading to meaningless slaughter. His worldview is shaped by a traumatic past; before the Britannian invasion of Japan, he was described by Lelouch as selfish and bratty, even engaging in bullying behavior toward his future friend. However, he evolved into a figure driven by a profound sense of loyalty to his superiors and a desire to protect the innocent, though he remained willing to betray elders if it served his goals. His ultimate motivation is to atone for the death of his father by taking full responsibility for his actions, striving to change the system from within rather than destroying it.
