Synopsis

When you gaze upward at the sky, what do you imagine? Peaceful clouds? Freedom? A bright tomorrow? For the people of Tokyo, those dreams are distant. Instead, they live under the constant shadow of a colossal alien mothership hovering overhead. Three years ago, the "Invaders" arrived on Earth, triggering the greatest conflict humanity has ever known—one that could mean total extinction. In response, Japan's government launched massive military efforts against the aliens, accelerating weapons production to levels never seen before, fueling intense disputes and anti-war demonstrations. Yet amidst the chaos, everyday life continues for some. High school students Kadode Koyama and Ouran Nakagawa go about their usual routines: attending classes, hanging out with friends, and taking each day as it comes. As they grow older, Kadode and Ouran begin to understand the painful realities of coming of age in a world where those in power appear more like deceitful monsters bent on ruin. They eventually realize that the real danger to humanity does not come from the Invaders—it comes from within humanity itself.
