Terminator Zero

Synopsis

In the aftermath of Skynet's complete takeover of the world in 2022, human resistance fighters persist in their struggle against the machine-led regime. After a fierce clash, Eiko, a Japanese guerrilla soldier, manages to capture one of Skynet's elite Terminator assassins. Using the vital intelligence extracted from the Terminator, the resistance sends Eiko back through time with the goal of altering the course of history. In August 1997, just days before the catastrophic nuclear event known as Judgment Day, Malcolm Lee is developing Kokoro, an advanced artificial intelligence designed to protect humanity. As the threat of annihilation draws closer, a Terminator arrives in Japan with the objective of eliminating Malcolm and his children before Kokoro gains self-awareness. Malcolm must ensure that his creation stays true to its intended purpose and does not follow the same destructive path as Skynet.

Background

Although Terminator 0 shares the same universe as the Terminator live-action movies, it features a new story with different characters. It is the first animation of the Terminator franchise and premiered exclusively on Netflix.
