Synopsis

In a world where rising oceans have swallowed large portions of livable land, people depend on existing technology to get by. Natsuki Ikaruga, a talented young graduate who lost a leg in a submarine accident, leads a grim existence on a sparsely populated island. One day, Natsuki meets a mysterious woman named Catherine and discovers an advanced humanoid robot that once belonged to his grandmother, Nonko, a renowned climatologist. The robot, called Atri, looks like a young girl and tells Natsuki that Nonko gave her an important mission, though she can no longer remember what it was. Natsuki initially plans to sell Atri, but changes his mind when he sees a chance to reconnect with his grandmother's work. He had previously given up his dream of joining a prestigious scientific expedition. As he starts building relationships with the other island residents, Natsuki begins to see opportunities to make a real difference in their tough surroundings.
