Synopsis

Continues the story of Saiyuuki Reload: Burial

Set before the events of the main journey, this prequel examines the origins of the Saiyuuki quartet. The first OVA focuses on Sanzo and his master, as well as Ukoku, later known as Ni Jianyi. The second OVA depicts the first meeting between Goku and Sanzo. The third OVA explores the consequences of Hakkai's crimes and his subsequent trial—as first seen in the first season of Saiyuuki—along with his decision to reside alongside Gojyo.

In this installment

In the distant past, humans and demons coexisted peacefully. However, that harmony was shattered when demons began attacking humans and conspired to free Gyumao, a malevolent demon who had been sealed away for millennia. In the present day, Genjo Sanzo, a renegade priest, must join forces with three demons—Sha Gojyo, Son Goku, and Cho Hakkai—and undertake a dangerous westward journey to prevent these demons from reviving Gyumao and to reestablish equilibrium between humans and demons on Earth.
