Taishi, Nataku

Summary

Taishi, known as Nataku, draws inspiration from the Taoist deity Nezha. He is a half-mortal war god who earned the friendship of Gokuu during their divine days. However, Nataku falls into a catatonic state, with the anime leaving the reasons undisclosed. He remains seated in heaven’s divine garden, staring blankly ahead, accompanied only by the Goddess of Mercy. Throughout the series, Nataku appears far more somber than Gokuu, resigned to his role as a puppet to the Gods. He holds the title of War Prince, a position later passed to Homura. While he uses a different title, his background remains similar, featuring a Commander father and a spear. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that his father exploits him for divine recognition, shifting blame for misfortune onto Nataku. Later, Field Marshal Tenpou, the past reincarnation of Cho Hakkai, reprimands the Commander, and the son’s mistreatment ceases in the narrative.
