In Tougenkyou, humans and youkai once coexisted peacefully until an attempt to revive the malevolent youkai Gyuumaou triggered the "Minus Wave"—a dark force that erodes youkai self-control, driving them to attack and consume human villagers. Chosen by the Three Aspects, celestial envoys, Sanzou Genjou assembles a team of unconventional allies to stop Gyuumaou's resurrection and restore balance. Gokuu Son, Hakkai Cho, and Gojou Sha—all of mixed human and youkai descent—possess the unique ability to withstand the Minus Wave. Despite his reservations about relying on beings of mixed heritage, Sanzou sets out on a westward journey with these three to combat the growing threat.
