Summary
As the fifth member of the Sanzo Ikkou, he serves as the beast of burden who carries the four noisy monks on his back throughout their journey. While he typically manifests as a white, long-necked dragon, he possesses the ability to transform into a Jeep. Although Hakkai was the one who originally named him, the character is predominantly referred to as Hakuryuu, or "white dragon," in the anime adaptations. This naming choice stemmed from Hakkai’s casual selection of a registered trademark product, resulting in the moniker Jeep used in the manga. He is a unique entity born from an experimental fusion of science and youkai magic, possessing crimson eyes reminiscent of the flying dragons found at Houtou Castle. His history with the group began when Hakkai discovered him weakened in the forest while he was living with Gojyo and brought him home. Since then, he has functioned somewhat as a pet to Hakkai. Despite initial friction with his housemate Gojyo, the two found common ground as taboo existences. Consequently, the character bears the name Jeep in the manga and Hakuryuu in the anime.
