Synopsis

Continues the story of A Certain Scientific Railgun

Academy City stands as a technological metropolis, surpassing the rest of the world by approximately two to three decades. Among its 2.3 million inhabitants, 80% are students whose education focuses on cultivating esper abilities. Misaka Mikoto, one of the city's most potent espers, shares a dormitory with Kuroko Shirai, a high-level esper who serves in Judgement, a student-led law enforcement agency. Both girls are enrolled at Tokiwadai, an exclusive private school for the wealthy and gifted. Kuroko's partner in Judgement is Kazari Uiharu, a low-level esper attending Sakugawa Middle School, where her best friend and classmate is Ruiko Saten, a Level Zero possessing no esper powers. Together, these four become embroiled in various adventures throughout the dynamic scientific city.

In "A Certain Scientific Railgun S," Mikoto Misaka and her friends investigate unsettling rumors spreading through Academy City. They uncover a grim truth: secret experiments are being conducted, killing numerous espers—clones created in Mikoto's image. Overwhelmed by guilt for their suffering, she vows to stop these experiments. However, her enemies are far more powerful than she expects, including some of the most formidable espers. This story follows the Railgun as she fights to end the inhumane experiments she believes she unintentionally set in motion, plunging her life into deep despair. Academy City is always full of excitement, but not all of it is pleasant.
