Synopsis
In "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Disturbance," Kenshin Himura's tranquil existence at the Kamiya dojo is shattered when a critical event challenges his pledge to abstain from killing. The brutal murder of his former superior forces Kenshin to revisit his past as the feared Battousai in order to confront Makoto Shishio, a ruthless assassin who claims to be the Battousai's successor. After a decade of meticulous scheming, Shishio aims to overthrow the Meiji government and seize control of Kyoto, amassing a formidable army to challenge the state. His latest maneuver involves recruiting Aoshi Shinomori, the cold-blooded former leader of the Oniwaban Group, to his cause. As Kenshin journeys through a desolate village under Shishio's dominion, he resolves to prevent Japan from descending into chaos. Joining forces with his former adversary, Hajime Saitou, Kenshin sets out to dismantle Shishio's regime in a battle that will determine Japan's future.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Kyoto Douran aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA block. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD in four volumes from January 29, 2025, to July 30, 2025. The series adapts the Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan manga's Kyoto arc starting from volume 8.
