デジモンアドベンチャー ぼくらのウォーゲーム!
Synopsis
Continues the story of Digimon: Digital Monsters
At a summer camp, seven children witness a bizarre snowfall in the middle of July, which triggers chaos. Each child receives a mysterious device that transports them to an unfamiliar realm. After waking up, they encounter strange beings called "Digimon," who explain that the children have been taken to the "Digital World" far from their normal surroundings. Armed only with their Digimon partners and "Digivices," the group of seven sets out on a journey to find a way back home and understand why they were brought to this foreign land. Led by the adventurous Taichi Yagami and his hungry Digimon companion Agumon, they confront various threats while uncovering the secrets of the Digital World.
In this installment
The events of this film take place after the Adventure series has concluded. It begins with the discovery of a new Digimon Egg on the internet, which manages to infiltrate nearly every computer system in Japan. When the egg hatches, it is identified as a new type of Digimon, a Virus-type. It sustains itself by consuming data from various systems and begins causing chaos across Japan. As it consumes more and more data, it continues to evolve. Taichi and Koushiro decide that it is time to stop it. They set off, sending Agumon and Tentomon through the internet to fight this new enemy. But with the Virus taking control of systems like the American military, this digital threat may soon become all too real. Calling on Yamato and Takeru for help, they hope to stop what has already begun and perhaps save this world a second time.
Background
Digimon Adventure: Bokura no War Game was aired in theaters as a double feature alongside the One Piece movie as part of Toei's Spring 2000 Anime fair. In the US release titled Digimon: The Movie, three of the Digimon films were edited together into one single film due to the low individual run time of them. It was released nationwide on October 6, 2000. Several heavy changes were made in this edit such as plot changes to make the story connected and a soundtrack featuring insert songs from artists such as Smash Mouth. Cumulatively, over 40 minutes was cut from the original releases. The movie was divided into three parts, which are respective of the original films.
