Summary

Gennai acts as a guide to the Digital World, presenting himself as a mysterious entity that the DigiDestined first meet following their confrontation with Devimon. Although he asserts that he is composed of data, he lacks the standard attributes found in Digimon. Initially appearing as an elderly man, his true form is revealed when Kari is possessed by the powers of light and offers a glimpse into the history of the Digital World; in this vision, he is depicted as a young man clad in a hooded robe reminiscent of a Jedi Knight, suggesting he is one of many such beings. Gennai and his associates were responsible for creating the Digivices, Tags, and Crests, and they also selected the Chosen Digimon.
