Synopsis
Continues the story of Nisemonogatari
Following his recovery from a vampire incident and various encounters with girls entangled in supernatural events, Koyomi Araragi faces a new bizarre predicament in Nisemonogatari. One morning, he awakens to find himself bound and kidnapped by his girlfriend, Hitagi Senjougahara. She has imprisoned him to shield him from Deishuu Kaiki, a con artist who previously defrauded Hitagi's family and has now drawn Koyomi's sister, Karen, into a dangerous conflict. Upon receiving a desperate call from Karen, however, Araragi breaks free to attempt her rescue. Concurrently, Koyomi's other sister, Tsukihi, grapples with her own troubles. As two enigmatic women enter their lives, Koyomi struggles to discern their true motives while bracing for startling revelations concerning his family that are poised to emerge.

As the Monogatari Series: Second Season unfolds, Koyomi Araragi continues to encounter bizarre events, supernatural beings, and divine figures alongside his close-knit group of friends: the hardworking Tsubasa Hanekawa, the doughnut-loving vampire Shinobu Oshino, the energetic troublemaker Suruga Kanbaru, the bite-prone spirit Mayoi Hachikuji, Koyomi's devoted admirer Nadeko Sengoku, and his enigmatic girlfriend Hitagi Senjougahara. With a new school term beginning and graduation on the horizon, Koyomi must consider his future, the bonds he wishes to maintain, and which companions he will stand by. Yet, as peculiar incidents erupt, Koyomi suddenly disappears and a ferocious tiger-like entity emerges. With Hanekawa becoming its target, she quickly realizes she must learn to defend herself.
Background
Monogatari Series: Second Season adapts all but the third volume of NisiOisiN's light novel series of the same title. The third volume's adaptation, Hanamonogatari, was aired separately in August 2014. The complete Blu-ray release includes each arc under its novel title and places Hanamonogatari between episodes 11 and 12 of Monogatari Series: Second Season to reflect the original novel order.
