The story begins when Gokudou swipes a pouch from a fortuneteller, believing it holds a gem. Instead, what comes out is a rock, and from it emerges Djinn. The genie offers Gokudou the usual three wishes, but this anti-hero doesn't put much thought into what he asks for. He does receive his wishes, though not quite in the manner he imagined. The most valuable thing he gains from them is Honou no Maken, an enchanted sword that allows its owner to unleash fire attacks and can be called forth from anywhere in the world.
Even with such a magical weapon, Gokudou earns little respect. Djinn, who happens to be a shapeshifter, turns him into a woman. He soon finds himself trailed by Rubette La Late, a possible love interest whose real passions are adventure, karaoke, and showing up Gokudou. He also gets bonked on the head constantly, especially by the fortuneteller, who reappears again and again throughout the series almost purely to harass him. Later on, Gokudou picks up another sidekick: Prince, a former evil magician who is better-looking and more successful with women than Gokudou could ever hope to be.
