Naruto Shippuden the Movie 2: Bonds

Synopsis

In "Naruto Shippuden the Movie 2: Bonds," flying ninjas from the Land of Sky launch a sudden attack on Konohagakure, driven by their desire for revenge against their former enemy. Naruto Uzumaki, eager to join the fight, is held back by a mysterious doctor named Shinnou, who needs his help to rescue an injured person. While transporting the wounded individual to the hospital, Naruto meets Amaru, a hot-tempered young girl from a nearby village urgently seeking Shinnou's aid. As the attacking forces pull back to regroup, Tsunade dispatches a small team consisting of Sai, Shikamaru Nara, and Kakashi Hatake to destroy their hideout. At the same time, she orders Naruto, Sakura Haruno, and Hinata Hyuuga to accompany Shinnou and Amaru on their journey. Orochimaru, however, has other plans; he directs Sasuke Uchiha to capture the doctor skilled in reincarnation for his own purposes. When the escort team accidentally uncovers the dark motives behind the attacks, a series of chaotic events unfolds. Despite an unexpected reunion, Naruto remains determined to end the conflict and its destructive consequences.

Background

Naruto: Shippuuden Movie 2 - Kizuna is set approximately after the "Three-Tails' Appearance" arc of the Naruto: Shippuden anime series, which ends with episode 112. To celebrate Weekly Shounen Jump's 40th Anniversary, the movie was released on August 2, 2008 and registered a box office revenue of 1.16 billion yen. It was announced in the renowned magazine along with the DVD release date for the first Naruto: Shippuuden film. Naruto: Shippuuden Movie 2 - Kizuna's English version was released on DVD and Blu-ray on October 25, 2011 in North America. The movie has an animanga adaptation released in Japan on July 24, 2009.
