Synopsis

Continues the story of Initial D Legend 1 Awakening

On a foggy morning, a black-and-white Toyota AE86 overtakes Keisuke Takahashi's Mazda RX-7 on Mount Akina, leading Keisuke to think he has encountered the spirit of a deceased racer. Determined to face this phantom, Keisuke gathers the Akagi Red Suns to challenge the Akina Speed Stars in an intense competition, hoping to force the elusive "Ghost of Akina" to show itself. Although Itsuki Takeuchi is also a car enthusiast, he notices that Takumi Fujiwara remains uninterested in the thrill of racing, viewing his father's AE86 only as a means to deliver tofu. Yet, Takumi secretly excels at navigating Mount Akina's sharp curves every night. When the Akagi team strikes, the Speed Stars struggle to keep pace and realize their only hope lies in convincing Takumi to drive the distinctive panda-colored AE86. With some encouragement, Takumi takes the wheel, resolved to uphold the honor of all racers on Mount Akina.

In this installment

Following the clash between Takumi Fujiwara's Toyota AE86 and Keisuke Takahashi's Mazda RX7, Takeshi Nakazato from the Myougi Night Kids challenges Takumi to a downhill race, intent on defeating the AE86. Despite the superior power of his Nissan Skyline GT-R, Nakazato is told he cannot outdrive Takumi, which only strengthens his resolve. Convinced that grip racing is superior to flashy drifting, Nakazato is determined to prove his skill. When Itsuki Takeuchi quickly accepts the challenge on Takumi's behalf, Takumi hesitates, insisting he is not a racer. Pressure from his job eventually pushes him to consider the race. Returning to get the AE86, he finds his father has taken the car. As Takumi waits for his father's return, his competitive spirit begins to awaken.
