Entering the virtual world for the first time, Yui must confront one of Grosser's henchmen. She also has to battle another of Grosser's minions, this one infecting the e-mail exchanged between Yui and her friends. Finally, Yui and IR suspect something is wrong when Chef Kirch, a family friend who can never get his recipes quite right, faces customers who have turned into ravenous zombies!

The narrative centers on Elk, a bounty hunter navigating a peculiar futuristic world where ancient yet sophisticated technology coexists with primitive customs, magical creatures, and beasts—essentially a setting blending many elements. A sinister conspiracy lurks, capable of creating powerful monsters called chimera that can even assume human form. Unsurprisingly, Elk soon finds himself rescuing a young female beast-master and making formidable enemies in the process.

The story begins when Gokudou swipes a pouch from a fortuneteller, believing it holds a gem. Instead, what comes out is a rock, and from it emerges Djinn. The genie offers Gokudou the usual three wishes, but this anti-hero doesn't put much thought into what he asks for. He does receive his wishes, though not quite in the manner he imagined. The most valuable thing he gains from them is Honou no Maken, an enchanted sword that allows its owner to unleash fire attacks and can be called forth from anywhere in the world. Even with such a magical weapon, Gokudou earns little respect. Djinn, who happens to be a shapeshifter, turns him into a woman. He soon finds himself trailed by Rubette La Late, a possible love interest whose real passions are adventure, karaoke, and showing up Gokudou. He also gets bonked on the head constantly, especially by the fortuneteller, who reappears again and again throughout the series almost purely to harass him. Later on, Gokudou picks up another sidekick: Prince, a former evil magician who is better-looking and more successful with women than Gokudou could ever hope to be.

This anime is an adapted version of the beloved classic Japanese novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden by Bakin Kyokutei Takizawa (1767). Anzu and Naruto Nozaki come into a considerable inheritance from their family. Naruto seems excessively protective of Anzu, displaying typical sis-con behavior, but his actions arise from genuine care since they are not blood related. He keeps her confined to the family mansion, using safety concerns as a pretext to cut her off from friends and social life. When Anzu turns sixteen, she begins to push back against his restrictions. Three children from Watermill Village were getting ready for a picnic in the mountains. Naturally, Pico—a little hamster kid—really wanted to reach the mountain peak alongside her pals Tocho and Fufu. The trio tumbled into a concealed lake beneath the mountains and came across a massive fish named Aesop floating there. They realized the fish longed to fly again, and to make that happen, they would have to gather mystical scales from all over the world. So they set off on a quest for those scales, hoping to fulfill Aesop's dream.
