Marco: Haha wo Tazunete Sanzenri
Marco: 母をたずねて三千里
Synopsis
In the 19th century, Genoa, Italy, nine-year-old Marco endures separation from his mother Anna, who departs for work in Argentina to flee heavy taxes and a severe economic slump. Staying behind with his father—a physician at a hospital for the poor—Marco cannot suppress his yearning for his mother. When Anna suddenly stops corresponding with them, Marco grows anxious about her well-being and decides to journey alone all the way to Argentina. Marco embarks on a long and grueling adventure spanning more than 10,000 miles. He carries only love, courage, friendship, and a deep desire to see his mother once more. The narrative follows an exciting voyage across the Atlantic Ocean, the Andes Mountains, and a spiritual boundary as Marco comes of age.
