Synopsis
This anime is an adapted version of the beloved classic Japanese novel Nanso Satomi Hakkenden by Bakin Kyokutei Takizawa (1767). Set in a future era, heaven was torn by wars fought over the eight moons that the savior Fuse had created around God's land. When the conflict concluded, the Oowari family emerged as the sole rulers, and the last surviving son seized command of every moon in heaven—save one. That exception was Meiten, the pope's moon, whose inhabitants avoided warfare and thus remained outside the terms of the war. Eight individuals, each hailing from a different moon, each bearing one of the jewels—the elements that make up Earth. These are the ones fated to become humanity's saviors. Every one of them has made a sacrifice for their jewel, and each is resolved to fulfill the mission given by Queen Fuse, who entrusted them with these treasures. When the deranged emperor Kai plots to resurrect a ghost that seeks to block Earth's restoration, the eight must fight using the abilities granted by their jewels—both to bring Earth into being and to overcome those who stand against it. And so they all make their way to Kusanagi, the vessel at the heart of God's land. There, at Kusanagi's center, they must place the jewels into the key known as Yatsufusa to complete the creation of Earth.
