During a summer camp at the seaside, fifteen middle school students explore a mysterious cave and encounter a man named Kokopelli along with several computers. Kokopelli challenges them to pilot a giant mecha called the Zearth to defend Earth against incoming threats. Intrigued, the children accept his offer by touching a shield-like device, which seals their fate. When an enemy mecha emerges from the ocean, Kokopelli teaches them how to mentally operate the Zearth, and they successfully defeat the threat. Excited about their new role as protectors of the planet, the children soon realize their joy is short-lived; the Zearth requires life energy to function, and after each battle, the pilots perish. Bound by their contract, they must use their limited time to safeguard Earth.
