In a distant future, the planet Earth, referred to as Terra, lies ruined due to environmental destruction caused by humanity. Forced to abandon their ravaged world, humans have scattered across numerous planets. A central supercomputer oversees every detail of human procreation, maintaining strict control over the population. Into this landscape, a new branch of humanity arises—the Mu. Endowed with psychic abilities, the Mu stir unease within the governing System that rules over the human race. These Mu, concealing their existence from regular humans, share a single aspiration: to journey back to their original home, Terra.

Terra e... was published in English as To Terra... by Vertical from February 20 to June 26, 2007. It followed the newer, 3-volume Japanese edition, rather than the original 5-volume set. The series was published digitally as Toward the Terra by Fantasista Inc. through Manga Planet from November 21, 2019 to May 7, 2020.
