In the ritual competition known as the Holy Grail War, seven sorcerers compete to prove their worthiness to claim the Holy Grail, a mystical artifact capable of fulfilling any wish. Each participant is paired with a legendary hero, known as a familiar, summoned from the annals of history. The Einzbern clan, a key player in the Holy Grail War, enlists the renowned mage slayer Kiritsugu Emiya to represent them in the Fourth Holy Grail War. Despite having access to his own unique set of weapons, Kiritsugu faces off against six other sorcerers, each driven by their own desires, whether to better humanity or to earn personal honor, all vying for control of the Holy Grail. Taking place a decade prior to the events of Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Zero recounts the pivotal moments of the Fourth Holy Grail War.

Background

Fate/Zero was initially released as a doujinshi collaboration by Type-Moon and Nitro+ between 2006 and 2007 at Comic Market conventions. A six-volume bunkoban edition was officially published by Sekaisha in 2011. It was published in Polish by Kotori from December 18, 2017, to May 22, 2019; and in Brazilian Portuguese by NewPOP Editora from December 2015 to July 2017. The series received four drama CD adaptations between 2008 and 2010, as well as an image soundtrack in 2007.
