In the shadow of a naive young Emperor, Minister Honest wields power with brutal indifference, exploiting the populace and corrupting the capital city. To combat this oppression, the Revolutionary Army has formed Night Raid, a covert group of lethal assassins dedicated to eliminating those responsible for and complicit in the Empire's atrocities. Tatsumi, a simple youth wielding a sword, journeys to the capital with the aim of rescuing his destitute village. Upon arriving, he is confronted with the harsh realities of the city's violence and injustice. Driven by his newfound rage, Tatsumi is drawn to Night Raid's righteous cause and opts to join their ranks, setting out on a perilous quest for retribution against Minister Honest. Through his trials, Tatsumi grapples with complex moral questions and the harsh truths of life and death, striving towards a vision of a more just society.
