Summary

Originally designated as 001 before being replaced by Ivan, Jet hails from New York City and previously led the Jets gang on the West Side. In the manga, his introduction parodies the opening sequences of West Side Story. During a violent clash with the Puerto Rican Sharks, Jet fatally stabbed a rival gang member, forcing the remaining members to flee to avoid police detection. He was subsequently intercepted by Black Ghost members, who abducted him to be transformed into a cyborg. True to his name, Jet features built-in boosters in his feet, enabling flight at speeds up to Mach 5. His body also houses an early iteration of an acceleration module, a technology later refined in 009. Although he possesses a brash personality that frequently conflicts with his peers—and is even hostile toward them in the 2001 series—he remains a loyal and good-hearted member of the team. Jet was one of the 00 Cyborgs frozen in stasis until more advanced procedures could be developed. Since he was 18 years old when captured, he is currently in his 40s or 50s. Additionally, Jet is characterized by a notably large nose.
