The story centers on Shimamura Joe, a half-Japanese troublemaker who becomes Cyborg 009. Black Ghost, a secret organization aiming to trigger global conflict, kidnaps Joe and eight other marginalized individuals from different countries, converting them into cyborgs. Although Black Ghost intends to use them as deadly assassins, Joe and his allies rebel and escape with the help of an elderly scientist. After their escape, Black Ghost sends numerous cyborgs and mechas to pursue them. Using their enhanced abilities, the group evades Black Ghost's evil plans—can they stop the organization's wicked scheme and save the world?
