The English-language cut-scenes that aired on TV and were watched by the characters of Chrome Shelled Regios originally served as the basis for Legend of Regios. This special, which is included with the Chrome Shelled Regios DVD release, rearranges the scenes, extends some of them, and has been fully redubbed in Japanese. It stands as a side story within the Chrome Shelled Regios series.

In a world devastated by monstrous creatures known as Limbeekoon or Filth Monsters, humanity has taken refuge inside enormous moving cities called Regios, where people learn to wield special weapons known as Dite by channeling the energy of Kei to protect themselves. In the Academy City of Zuellni, Layfon Alseif hopes to start over and leave his past behind. But his history draws the interest of Karian Loss, the manipulative Student Council President, and Nina Antalk, a Military Arts student and captain of the 17th Military Arts Platoon, who quickly sees his skill and decides he is the ideal recruit for her team. However, with a secret past that refuses to let him go and extraordinary abilities beyond the ordinary, Layfon may not simply go along with it.
