Synopsis
In the attic of his grandfather's house, Hikaru Shindou discovers an old go board. When he touches it, he hears a strange voice and then passes out. After waking up, he realizes the voice is still there—it belongs to Fujiwara no Sai, the spirit of a famous go master from the Heian Era. Even though he has been dead for a long time, Sai still plays go with an energy that goes beyond time. His goal is to master a divine go technique that no one else has achieved, and he plans to do this through Hikaru. At first, Hikaru has no interest in board games, but he reluctantly follows Sai’s instructions while playing go. However, his attitude changes after he meets the talented young go player, Akira Touya. This meeting sparks a new excitement for the game in Hikaru, setting the stage for his emerging journey in the competitive world of go.
